# Screen capture

Instantly capture your entire screen.

## How to use

1. Press the screen capture shortcut — `⌘⇧1` on macOS or `Ctrl+Shift+1` on Windows (the default)
2. Done — your screen is captured immediately

## Multiple monitors

Captures the screen where your mouse cursor is located.

## Composite screen capture

**Composite screen** (default `⌘⇧0` on macOS or `Ctrl+Shift+0` on Windows) captures each window as a separate layer — great for layered compositions. It's an experimental feature: enable it in **Settings → General → Enable experimental features**. Its hotkey only works, and its **🧪 Capture Composite Screen** menu item only appears, while experimental features are on. See [Composite Capture](/docs/hypershot/capturing/composite-capture) for what you can do with the layers.
