# Color selector

hypershot's color selector gives you fast, flexible control over annotation colors.

## Choosing a color

Click the color swatch in the tool options bar to open the color selector. Pick any color using:

- **Color wheel / spectrum** — Click to choose your color
- **Hex input** — Enter an exact color code
- **Opacity** — Adjust transparency

## Color favorites

Save up to **6 favorite colors** for quick access. Favorites persist across sessions, making it easy to maintain a consistent color palette for your annotations.

## Color history

The selector automatically tracks your **last 6 used colors**. No need to remember hex codes — your recent picks are always one click away.

## Eyedropper

Need an exact color from anywhere on screen? With the color selector open, press **I** to activate the eyedropper:

1. A small panel follows your cursor, showing a zoomed 7×7 view of the pixels under it plus the center pixel's hex value
2. **Click anywhere** on screen to sample that color
3. The color is applied to the current tool immediately — and it's undo-safe

Press **Escape** to cancel the eyedropper without sampling.

## Tips

- **Build a palette** — Save your brand colors as favorites so every screenshot stays on-brand
- **Quick reuse** — Check history before opening the full selector
- **Per-tool colors** — Each tool remembers its last used color independently
