# Copy to clipboard

Copy your screenshot directly to the clipboard for pasting into other apps.

## How to copy

1. Finish editing your screenshot
2. Click the **Copy** button in the export pane
3. Paste into any app that accepts images

To skip the editor entirely, set **Settings → Captures → After capture** to **Only Copy** (or tick **Copy to Clipboard** there) and captures are copied as soon as you take them.

## What gets copied

- The entire canvas with all annotations
- At the current export scale
- In PNG format (for maximum compatibility)

## Where to paste

Works with:
- Slack, Discord, Teams
- Email clients (Gmail, Outlook)
- Documents (Word, Google Docs, Notion)
- Image editors (Photoshop, Figma)
- Social media (Twitter/X, LinkedIn)
- Basically any app that accepts images

## Tips

- **Quick workflow** — Capture → Annotate → Copy → Paste in Slack
- **No file needed** — Skip saving when you just need to share once
- **Full quality** — Clipboard uses PNG for crisp images

## Note: Copying vs. copying annotations

| Command | What Happens |
|---------|--------------|
| **Copy** button in the export pane | Copies the entire image |
| Cmd/Ctrl+C (annotations selected) | Copies just the annotations |

Cmd/Ctrl+C copies selected annotations (for pasting elsewhere in hypershot); with nothing selected it does nothing. Use the **Copy** button to copy the whole image.
