# Appearance

Customize how hypershot looks and feels.

## Accessing appearance settings

1. Click the hypershot icon in your menu bar / system tray
2. Select **Settings**
3. Go to the **Appearance** tab

## Theme mode

| Option | Description |
|--------|-------------|
| **Auto** | Matches your system theme (light/dark) |
| **Light** | Always light theme |
| **Dark** | Always dark theme |

Auto is recommended — hypershot will follow your system preferences.

## Accent color

Choose from 11 built-in accent color presets that apply across the entire interface:

| Preset | Swatch |
|--------|--------|
| Cyan | Default — cool blue-green |
| Blue | Classic blue |
| Purple | Rich violet |
| Pink | Warm magenta |
| Red | Bold red |
| Orange | Vibrant orange |
| Amber | Golden amber |
| Yellow | Bright yellow |
| Lime | Fresh green |
| Green | Emerald green |
| Teal | Blue-green |

Your accent choice is preserved when switching between light and dark themes.

## UI scale

Adjust the size of the interface:

| Scale | Best For |
|-------|----------|
| **75%** | Small screens, more canvas space |
| **100%** | Default size |
| **125%** | Easier to read, larger targets |
| **150%** | High visibility, accessibility |

Changes apply immediately — no restart required.

## Reticle style

The reticle is the selection indicator when capturing. There are four styles:

| Style | Description |
|-------|-------------|
| **Simple** (default) | Clean white border with corner markers |
| **Intelligence** | Soft, animated multi-color glow inside the selection |
| **Glass** | Frosted blur with subtle border — marked "Glass may impact capture performance", since it blurs the screen on every frame |
| **Rainbow** | Animated rainbow sweep around the outside of the selection |

### Preview

The setting shows a live preview tile for each style — hover one to see it in motion.

## Preview folder corner

**Preview capture position** chooses which screen corner the [preview folder](/docs/hypershot/capturing/capture-history) appears in: **Bottom Left** (default) or **Bottom Right**.

## Tips

- **Dark mode + accent color** — Pick a bright accent (lime, yellow) for high contrast in dark mode
- **Rainbow reticle** — Fun and easy to see on any background
- **Glass reticle** — Elegant, shows preview of captured area
