QR code scanning
hypershot can decode QR codes and barcodes straight off your screen — no phone photo, no second app. Freeze the screen, and every code in view is scanned at once.
How to use
Section titled “How to use”- Trigger the scan codes capture mode — default shortcut ⌘⇧B on macOS or Ctrl+Shift+B on Windows (changeable in Settings → Shortcuts), or Scan codes (QR / barcode) in the menu bar / tray menu, the Quick Access Panel, or the editor’s Capture Bar
- Every connected screen freezes and hypershot decodes every QR code / barcode visible on all of them
- Each detected code gets a callout with its decoded contents and a Copy button; links also get an Open button. If exactly one code is found, it’s copied to the clipboard automatically
- Press Escape (or click empty space) to close
Why the screen freezes
Section titled “Why the screen freezes”Codes are scanned from a frozen snapshot rather than the live screen: moving content (a video, an animation, a scrolling page) blurs codes past recognition, and a still frame guarantees a clean read. The freeze is automatic in this mode — nothing extra to press.
- Codes too small to scan? Capture the region into the editor first and zoom — the decoder reads from the frozen frame at native resolution
- Multiple codes on screen all decode in one pass; each gets its own callout
- Results are plain text; for links, Open opens them in your browser
- Codes you copy or open are listed under Recent Codes in the menu bar / tray menu (turn this off in Settings → Captures → Scan codes history; Wi-Fi and one-time-password codes are never kept)
Windows and macOS
Section titled “Windows and macOS”Both platforms scan identically — the decoding is built into hypershot’s capture pipeline, not an OS feature.
