Pin to screen
Pin a capture to your screen as a small floating window that stays on top of everything else — handy as a reference while you work in another app.
How to pin
Section titled “How to pin”- Finish editing your screenshot
- Click the pin button — the last button in the export pane (the bar on the editor’s left edge), below a divider
- The pinned image appears centered on your main screen
The pin is the whole artboard, annotations included, rendered as a PNG. It always pins at 100% — the export pane’s scale and resolution settings don’t apply — and opens at its actual on-screen size (1:1 with your display), shrunk to fit if it would cover more than 80% of the screen.
Hover controls
Section titled “Hover controls”The pin is just the image until you hover over it. Then its controls appear:
| Control | Where | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Close | Top-right corner | Removes the pin |
| Copy | Bar on the left edge | Copies the image to the clipboard |
| Drag | Bar on the left edge | Press and drag the image into another app |
| Lock / Unlock | Bar on the left edge | Locks the pin in place (see below) |
| Scale | Pill at the bottom | Shows the current size as a percentage of the original |
Very small pins hide the left bar and the scale pill so they don’t cover the image.
Moving and resizing
Section titled “Moving and resizing”- Move — Drag anywhere on the image
- Resize on macOS — Drag any edge or corner. The pin keeps its aspect ratio; the scale pill updates as you go
- Resize on Windows — Click the scale pill and pick 10%, 25%, 50%, 100%, or 200%
A pin can’t grow larger than the screen.
Locking
Section titled “Locking”Click Lock to stop the pin from moving or resizing — useful when it sits right where you need it and you keep clicking near it. Click Unlock to free it again.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- One pin at a time — Pinning another capture replaces the current pin
- Independent of the editor — The pin stays after you close the editor
- Not saved — Pins last until you close them or quit hypershot; they don’t come back after a restart. To keep a capture, save it — see Save to File
