Scrolling capture

Capture an entire scrollable page or document in one stitched image.

  1. Start a scrolling capture — it’s its own capture mode: press ⌘⇧J on macOS or Ctrl+Shift+J on Windows (the default), or choose Scrolling Capture from the menu bar / tray menu, the Quick Access Panel, or the editor’s Capture Bar
  2. Drag to select the scrollable region — only the part that moves when you scroll
  3. Scroll the content naturally — hypershot automatically stitches frames together
  4. Click Done when you’ve captured everything you need (or Cancel to discard)

The result is a single tall image combining all the visible portions as you scrolled.

hypershot captures frames at ~8 Hz and uses pixel-level alignment to stitch them into a seamless image. As you scroll, each new frame is matched against the previous one and appended to the growing stitched result.

While scrolling, a real-time preview of the stitched image is shown in the capture overlay so you can see exactly what you’re getting.

The capture HUD shows a status indicator during scrolling:

StatusMeaning
🟢 CapturingFrames are being stitched successfully
⚪ No New ContentNo scroll detected — try scrolling more
🟢 Reached EndYou may have reached the bottom of the content
🟡 Scroll ForwardYou scrolled back up — keep scrolling forward
🟡 Slow DownScrolling too quickly for the stitcher to align frames
🟡 Max Size LimitHit the maximum image height your GPU supports

Amber warning pills below the HUD flag selections that won’t stitch well:

  • Small selection region — a region narrower than 400 px or shorter than 300 px may not stitch reliably; try a larger region
  • Fixed content detected — the selection includes content that doesn’t move when you scroll (a sticky header or nav bar). Reselect a region containing only the moving content
  • Scroll steadily — moderate, consistent speed works best
  • Avoid sudden jumps — the stitcher needs overlapping content between frames
  • Leave out fixed headers — select only the scrolling content; sticky headers and nav bars break the stitch and trigger the “Fixed content detected” warning
  • Click Done when finished — or the session auto-pauses if you hit the GPU size limit
  • Maximum stitched height depends on your GPU’s maximum texture size
  • Very fast or erratic scrolling may cause alignment failures
  • Works best with content that scrolls vertically in one direction
